1976
The Birth of “Decorama” in an 80 m² Space
The Decorama company was founded in 1976 in Walferdange, in a converted 80 m² barn. The business began with a few simple and functional kitchen designs.
1984
Relocation to Bereldange, with an increase in floor space to 1,200 m²
In 1984, the company moved to Bereldange into a 1,200 m² building: 600 m² dedicated to kitchens and 600 m² to furniture.
1994
Decorama becomes “Decorama – De Kichechef”
In 1994, Decorama partnered with RTL to create “De Kichechef,” the first cooking show broadcast on Luxembourgish television.
This initiative boosted the brand’s national profile.
2000
Opening of “de Miwwel & Kichechef” in Capellen, with a 10,000 m² showroom
Opening of the “de Miwwel & Kichechef” showroom in Capellen (10,000 m²).
The offering is expanding to include kitchens, furniture, decoration, lighting and rugs. The slogan “Maacht aus Ären Dreem Äert Doheem” accompanies this new stage.
2003
Creation of the “TopGranit” natural stone worktop production company

2010
“Kichechef” expands in Capellen, bringing the total area to 38,000 m².
Kichechef expands to 38,000 m² of showroom space, becoming the largest furniture store in the Greater Region!
2019
Passing the torch to the second generation, accompanied by a logo change.
The Hilgert family is passing the torch to the second generation, with a modernized vision that remains true to the company’s DNA. Their new promise? “Home Sweet Home.”
2025
Launch of the online shop.
Nearly 50 years after its beginnings in Walferdange, Kichechef is launching its online store. A selection of its products is now available online, marking a new stage in the company’s development.
